The giant rocks outside Old Main on the UA campus, some weighing almost 20 tons, are donated by engineering alums at a local mining company. Mining engineering students then use them for drilling competitions. |

Engineering AmbassadorsWho are they and what do they do?Engineering Ambassadors are students who volunteer their time to educate middle and high school students on the diversity of engineering and to enhance student recruitment to the College of Engineering. Representing all majors in the College of Engineering, Engineering Ambassadors share information about the University and about the college experience from a student’s perspective. Additionally, Engineering Ambassadors will:
Application Process Applications are accepted during December and January. There is a two-phase interview process. The first is a group interview. Upon successful completion, the candidate is invited for a second, individual interview after which Ambassador selections are made. Deadline and Requirements for 2010 Application and a letter of recommendation must be completed and submitted to Engineering Building, Room 200, by 5 p.m., January 29, 2010 for participation the following school year (2010-2011).
Training for Fall 2009 Two-and-a-half-day (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) training retreat held August 20-22, 2009. Mandatory for new ambassadors. The retreat is held the week before the start of school. |
