UA Baja Racing

The Baja team designs, builds, markets, and races single-seat off-road vehicles in a nationwide collegiate competition that makes students familiar with the challenges of bringing a new product to market.

Changing Your Degree

All students must have a minimun UA cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or better to change into a new degree program or college.

From Pre-Engineering to a Degree Program in the College of Engineering

You will need:

To have completed a minimum of 24 units of courses required in the first two semesters of curriculum for your intended degree program. The 24 units include required math, science and engineering courses, ENGL 101, 102 and 109H. Tier 1 and Tier 2 general courses are excluded from the required 24 units.
A minimum grade point average at Advanced Standing level in your intended degree program with at least 12 quality UA units.

Students who have completed courses with the required grade point average will automatically be changed into their requested degree program. If you do not see this change on your student link, contact the college advisor in the Engineering Academic Affairs Office, Room 219.

Students who have reached the 50 maximum unit limit and do not qualify for an engineering degree program will be required to change colleges.

Students who have not reached the advanced standing grade point average, and have less than 50 units, will continue in Pre-Engineering as long as they are making progress to their intended degree program.

College of Engineering Students: Declared Majors or No Major Selected

If you are a first-semester student, you can change to any Engineering degree program.

After the first semester, you must have:

Completed 12 quality UA units in the engineering curriculum (excluding Tier 1 and Tier 2 general education courses) with a grade point average at the Advanced Standing level of the intended degree program in those courses.
Completed Calculus I with a grade of C or better.

Note: If below Advanced Standing grade point average for the requested major, you may be moved into the Pre-Engineering program and must satisfy the requirements listed above to move into a major.

UA Students Outside the College of Engineering

If you are a first-semester UA student, the Engineering Admissions Committee will review your admission records and you will be:

Admitted to requested degree program (major)
Admitted to Pre-Engineering
Denied admission to Engineering

If you are a current student with at least one completed semester at the UA you must have:

Completed 12 quality UA units in the engineering curriculum (excluding Tier 1 and Tier 2 general education courses) with a grade point average at the Advanced Standing level of the intended degree program in those courses.
Completed Calculus I with a grade of C or better

You will be:

Admitted to requested degree program (major)
Denied admission to Engineering
