They are also involved with water and environmental resources. Civil engineers design and build buildings, bridges, roads, tunnels, power plants and many other vital structures and systems. Electrical and Computer EngineeringElectrical engineers design and build electrical and electronic systems and devices. Computer engineers work on hardware and software related to computers and computer systems. Engineering ManagementEngineering management combines engineering and business courses to prepare students for management positions with technology-based companies. Industrial EngineeringIndustrial engineers work in many areas of workplace and job design, such as production planning, quality assurance, facility planning, and information management. Optical Sciences & EngineeringOptical engineering involves optical design, fabrication and testing. Materials Sciences and EngineeringMaterials engineering involves studying and applying new materials, including metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, semiconductors, composites and optical materials. Mechanical EngineeringMechanical Engineers design automobile components, biomedical systems, robots, machine tools and many other mechanical systems. Mining EngineeringMining engineers work on all aspects of mining and also plan and supervise excavations associated with construction, tunnels and environmental projects. Geological engineers work in the petroleum, mining, hazardous waste, geotechnical and construction industries. Systems EngineeringSystems engineers model, analyze and design advanced systems. These systems can include machines, people, software, hardware, materials and energy.
